Riyadh Season

Concerts, shows and nights out in Riyadh. Riyadh Season turns the city into a festival of concerts, shows and food every year. How it started, what to expect and how to plan your nights.

A city-sized festival

Riyadh Season is a yearly season of entertainment that fills Saudi Arabia's capital with concerts, theatre, sports events, food halls and themed zones. The first edition ran in 2019, and organisers estimated that more than 11 million visits were made during its 66 days.

The season skipped 2020 because of the pandemic and returned for 2021 and 2022 with a huge opening night. It has come back every year since, usually opening in autumn and running into the winter months.

Where the nights happen

Each season is spread across zones, each with its own mood. Boulevard Riyadh City is the glowing heart of many evenings, with restaurants, cafes, live shows and big screens. Boulevard World lets visitors walk through areas themed on different countries, each with its own food and decoration.

Line-ups change every year, from Arab music stars and comedy shows to international concerts, light shows and boxing nights.

Planning a night out

Tickets for the biggest events sell quickly, so plan ahead and buy only from the official channels. Evenings are the best time to visit, when the weather cools and the lights come on.

For couples, a relaxed plan works best: dinner in one zone, a show or concert, then a slow walk among the lights. Check the official Riyadh Season calendar for dates, zones and dress guidance before you go.

Food, culture and family nights

Riyadh Season is not only about big concerts. Many zones focus on food, with long rows of restaurants and stalls serving dishes from across the Arab world and beyond, from grilled meats and fresh bread to desserts and specialty coffee.

Families come for theme parks, games and shows for children, while others look for theatre, comedy nights or art installations. The mix changes from year to year, which keeps regular visitors coming back to see what is new.

If you are visiting from abroad, give yourself several evenings rather than trying to see everything in one night. Distances between zones can be large, so plan your transport and check which events need tickets in advance.
